At FMCS, Our Goal Is To Help you Liberate Yourself
Because it is your life, you are the one controlling the boat. Your therapist is trained to work collaboratively with you to navigate the rapids, rocks, and storms that could slow you down or leave you stranded.

Our Mission Statement
Forward Motion Counseling Services recognizes the connection between interpersonal relationships and liberation. We believe that many factors including thought patterns, behaviors, interpersonal conflict, social ills, injustice, and biology play a role in what keeps people stuck. We believe change is possible when we allow ourselves to fully recognize the importance of those factors and engage with caring and knowledgeable people who work with you in navigating those blocks. In the end we believe this process will create a sense of peace, clarify meaning, and boost thriving.
Because it is your life, you are the one controlling the boat. Your therapist is trained to work collaboratively with you to navigate the rapids, rocks, and storms that could slow you down or leave you stranded.

Our Guiding Principle
If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.

Liberation Focused, Community Oriented, Client-Centered Therapy
Many factors in life conspire to limit growth. Some of those are internal and some of those are systemic. In the same way, what brings us hope and change in life is both working on those internal blocks through psychotherapy and external blocks through community work. In this you have agency. You are not simply a patient meant to follow a therapist’s direction. At FMCS you will be seen as a collaborator and an expert of your life. With the help of our trained therapists, we can help you discern where to begin, how to work on the changes you are searching for, and how to maintain those changes.
Our therapists are trained to work with you in a way that centers your humanity, experiences, and future goals rather than imposing on you an external framework of what your life should look like.

A Note From Our Founder
I started this practice to put my hat in the ring of improving care for people looking to heal. I would like to see therapy as affordable; affirming to all populations whether gender diverse, culturally diverse, or neurodivergent; and I would like to care for the providers who do the work of caring for their clients.
Our Goals
We believe that these goals are not separate. They need to be held together in order for us to live our values with integrity.

If You Are A Therapist Yourself:
At FMCS, we feel strongly that if we take care of our team members (in terms of their growth and their psychological wellbeing) then our clients will also benefit.
If anything you’ve read above resonates with you, we would love to get to know you better.
